By plane

If you arrive by plane, the closest airport is Split Airport.

From Split Airport, you can rent a car or take a bus to Split Bus Station which has frequent bus departures from Split for Makarska. The drive is 1 hour and 15 minutes long.

 

By train

If you travel by train you will have to travel till Split and then continue to Makarska by bus.

 

By car

If you plan to arrive by car, you can take the highway Zagreb-Dubrovnik and take the exit for Makarska. Be prepared for some traffic jams during the peak summer season.
